Webmaster is Dave Peirce, class of '57. I have a personal webpage; it probably won't be of use to you, but feel free to look.

I keep wishing there could be a central online point where all MHS people might look for things like contact data, or pictures of how we were (from the Marshallite?) and how we've deteriorated :), biographical data, etc. Maybe a bulletin board for messages, announcements, or just to keep in touch?

I asked around; some said "ehhhh!", and others said "maybe". I asked Norm Schulz and he said "Take a shot".

But......

I'd need a lot of help!

1) I have all the artistic skills of a brick, so I need an MHS logo and some pretty stuff to make the page look decent.

2) Feedback and collaboration.

• What is wanted/needed in a webpage like this?
• Would people feel comfortable publishing contact info such as email or snail mail addresses or phone numbers on the internet?
• Pictures? Could someone or a number of people scan old Marshallites and send me the pics with identifying info? Could people be talked into sending me current photos of themselves and/or maybe other interesting objects?
• Bulletin or message board?

3) I can receive info/pics by email (dave@christos.cjb.net - 2 MB limit per email).

• Pics would need to be in .jpeg/.jpg or .gif format as other formats take too long to download when you're reading the page. I think all digital cameras and scanners have .jpeg or .jpg output. I could do a limited amount of editing and configuring pics to make them download more easily.
• Info would need to be in plain text format. Any word processor can issue a file in "plaintext" or "ascii" format.

So.....

Is a web page worth it? Will I get some help? Is there a better way of doing any of this?

As you can see, I'm not a professional!!! I have done simple web pages for some local Churches and a business friend or two, but nothing fancy. So if there's a professional out there, or just someone who thinks he/she can do better, you won't hurt my feelings at all by volunteering to take it over. Absolutely :) !!
